I spent the whole of last week with my friend who came to Taipei for holidays. We went to lots of interesting places, checking out local foods and also did some shopping. By mid week, I was completely exhausted, but we had such a great time that I started to miss her as soon as she left!
With such a busy schedule, I had no time to check whether dulce de leche is available in local stores or not. I was prepared to give up dulce de leche duos recipe until I saw this wonderful post written by Julie in TWD site. So I bought a can of condensed milk and followed David Lebovitz's recipe. It worked, even though it took me close to 2 hours to get a tub of nicely caramelised dulce de leche. But it is definitely less scarier than boiling a can of sealed condensed milk, in my opinion!
As the cake-like cookies has already got dulce de leche in them, you can imagine how sweet they are when eaten with the filling. I prefer to have the cookies plain, and they taste great with a cup of tea!
If you want to give the recipe a try, head over to Jodie's blog!

A heavenly treat!
Cheers,

Your cookies are so beautiful.
Crazy that our backgrounds are so similar but mine was definitely missing some white to contrast the cookies and cutting board like your doily. You are the master!

Mmm, your dulce de leche looks wonderful and creamy. Very nice cookies too!
I like the slight mound on your cookies and the color of the dulce de leche; mine's just a tad too light. Again, great photo styling and wonderful photo, as always!
beautiful photo as always. Glad you were able to make the dulce de leche! :)
I am so obsessed with your food photography! I always feel like I am coming to look at pages in a food magazine when I see them!

What a yummy treat! They were quite sweet, so I filled some of mine with bittersweet chocolate ganache.
Beautiful presentation! I had to do a rewind this week, didn't have the ingredients. Still want to make them though!
How come everyone elses cookies are so pretty and fat whereas mine turned out superflat?? I liked these, but they were too sweet with the filling....
You have such a patient to make the dulce de leche. I think it is definitely worth the efforts. Beautiful shot as usual!
